HISTORY OF THE FESTIVAL
"SCIENCE ON STAGE"

 

           INTERNATIONAL EXPRESSIONS OF THE FESTIVAL

Three main european research organizations in 2000 offerred a wide range program, that was designed for teachers of Physics - "Physics on Stage." The main goal is giving an opportunity to teachers from schools and Universities to act in national and international acts for exchange of didactic materials. The final festival was in November 2000 in CERN, near Geneva, Switzerland. The other two festivals - "Physics on Stage 2" in 2000 and "Physics on Stage 3" in 2003 were situated in Nordwajik, Holland.

The decision of the International organizing committee is teachers of Biology and Chemistry to be included in the festival with a goal to strengthen the interes and to overcome the decrease of intereset among the young people in the natual sciences. In November 2005 again in CERN was situated the final festival "Science on Stage 1". In it act people from 29 european countries, in this number and Bulgaria.

           "SCIENCE ON STAGE" FESTIVAL IN BULGARIA

Predecessors of the first "Science on Stage" festival were the "Physics on Stage" festivals, conducted in the towns of Sofia and Varna in 2002 and 2003.

Host of the first festival "Science on Stage", conducted in Bulgaria in 2005, was the town of Pleven. The festival is accomplished by the combined efforts of a series of institutions and non-governmental organizations - Britain Council in Bulgaria, Ministry of Education and Science, Union of scientists, Union of the physicists in Bulgaria, National polytechnical museum, National museum "People and Earth", physic experts ... and most thanks to the renaissance efforts of the teachers of Physics and their students - our children, whose presentment inspire optimism. Because "on stage" even traditionally strong in the work with student centers, appeared and new "players", from which students we are waiting good results in their acting in this exciting game, called SCIENCE.

Host of the second "Science on Stage" festival, conducted in Bulgaria in 2006, was the town of Sevlievo. From the 10th of November to the 12th of November in the House of culture "Mara Belcheva", Sevlievo was conducted the National "Science on Stage 2" festival. In it 534 people took participation. They were from all around the country. The young people proved that Physics, Chemistry and Biology can be very interesting if they are shown in one accessible and compelling way. The organizers of the festival were the National organizing committee of the program, Ministry of education and science in Bulgaria and the municipality of Sevlievo. This activity was conducted with the support of the Unions of the Physicists, Chemists and Biologists in Bulgaria and the British council in Bulgaria. Students and teachers from Bulgaria took part in the preparation and conduction of the festival. The biggest team was from "Vasil Levski" High School. The school was one of the main organizers of this activity. The local and central medias reflected the conduction of this festival.
